Orphans are highly esteemed in our culture. Serving them is not considered a favour rather it is an obligation. This intervention is one among the activities QC hails with great care and concern. The sponsored orphans are being supported for their education, health and living.
QC has been concerned to serve the orphans in general and more specifically those belonging to the EQ zones because first, they are orphans and in most cases needy and deserving. Second, they have been orphaned by a calamitous and an unprecedented disaster that has hit Pakistan over the recent few decades claiming a huge toll on the human lives.
Under this project, 1000 needy orphans belonging to the Earthquake Affected areas of Bagh District, AJK have been supported. The supported orphans are orphaned by one or both parents. The project was gender balanced focusing on both girls and boys.
Poverty is rampant among the locals of the area. The majority of the people have difficulty in meeting their daily requirements of food, clothing and even educating their children. Many of them are faced with the challenge of not being able to send their children to schools for the mere reason that they cannot afford the continuing demands to educate their children.
Initiating this project was a relief for the poorest families who cannot meet the harsh realities of life with less difficulty.
The support was in the form of providing monthly stipends to the orphans and their families. Besides the financial support, educational kits and school uniforms have been distributed to the orphans. Health screening has been conducted to detect any anomaly. Special cases among the orphans have been referred for further treatment.
